#smallsteps – a reporter’s column from the pandemic time

European Commission Representation in Poland

#smallsteps is an online information and promotion campaign for the European Commission Representation in Poland, the purpose of which was to show that the European Union is not only an institution that fights against the coronavirus. The European Union is primarily made up of its inhabitants, people who face various challenges on a daily basis, including COVID-19, have passions, dreams, and implement their projects.

Lemon Spot proposed a competition for a reporter’s column on Instagram. The name of the competition #smallsteps (#małekroki) – referred to returning to “normality” in small steps, to “unfreezing” our lives during a pandemic. The competition theme referred to the current situation caused by the pandemic and gave EU residents the opportunity to express their emotions related to the constraints in moving / visiting relatives living in other EU countries or other cities.

To increase the recognition of the competition, Lemon Spot invited a reporter, writer and a winner of the “Nike” literary award – Mariusz Szczygieł, to be a member of the Jury. The main prize in the competition was a reporter’s workshop with Mariusz Szczygieł. The award for the distinction in the competition was Mariusz Szczygieł’s book “Personal Prague guide” with the author’s autograph.

The next stage of the project implementation was the publication of the awarded and distinguished competition works in the form of a four-language book and an e-book, which can be downloaded from the competition website https://malekroki.eu/
