Debate “Earth at a Crossroads. Climate Change and Human Rights”
European Parliament Liaison Office in Poland
Supporting the European Parliament Liaison Office in Poland in realisation of the debate related to handing of the Sakharov Prize for 2019. The goal of the campaign was increasing awareness of human rights issues, among others in the context of climate change.
In recent years, climate change rate has increased so much, that climatologists speak directly about the clear and current threat to civilization. The effects of global warming violate our fundamental rights: food resources are shrinking, species and their ecosystems are dying out, and many people face forced migration.
What prevents us from working effectively? What changes in the global economy are necessary to prevent further temperature increases? How to rebuild the international human rights system to protect us from the effects of climate change?
